And a secret hidden under layers of guilt, blame, and shame. Miller's The Girl with the Wrong Name is even more than the sum of its parts, and its parts are damn fine. You won't know which way is up, whom to love, or whom to trust. Theo is my favorite type of heroine: witty, lonely, fierce, and terrifyingly intelligent. A brain-shattering rollercoaster ride of a novel. Wow, what a page turner! The story gets weirder and weirder with each chapter. Who is Sarah?

Who is Andy? What is with that scar on Theo's face?

The two of them go on some pretty scary adventures to find this perfect girl for Andy. The thing about this book that I really loved is that it was not predictable. I did have some guesses as to what happened to Sarah but I was never spot on. I had some ideas about Andy and other characters as well, but I was off there too.

I have so much I want to say but am afraid I'll spoil it for others who read this, so I'll leave it at that. Recommendation: If you like psychological thrillers, read this one! Like, literally, imagine a twist tie that has been twisted not one or two or even three times like a normal story or a loaf of bread.

No, this twist tie has been twisted and turned and flipped and knotted right down to the very end of its little wire tips and then you realize, wait, that isn't a twist tie at all-- it's a freaking necktie in an Daaaaaang!!

Questions?

No, this twist tie has been twisted and turned and flipped and knotted right down to the very end of its little wire tips and then you realize, wait, that isn't a twist tie at all-- it's a freaking necktie in an Eldredge Knot! Because yes, you've been tricked, you fool! You thought you had it figured out back in the early stages, but jokes on you, because that wasn't the big secret that explained the whole story, that was just one measly piece of the puzzle, and a red herring at that! Sooo sneaky. This book really amazed me.

I received this book as a Christmas gift last year and the blurb seemed pretty interesting but I didn't feel the urge to pick this book up I have a huge collection of books I still need to get around to but I'm glad I finally did. This book was full of plot twists and I do mean full. Every time I got used to one plot twist, another one quickly took over. When I read the blurb I assumed this would be a cute sappy love story but it turned out to be a physiological thriller. It was just what I needed to get back into reading, what started out as a book I felt no real urge to read turned into a book I didn't want to put down.

All the pieces were put into I really enjoyed this book! All the pieces were put into place and everything made sense. Nov 16, Roxanne rated it really liked it Shelves: physical-library.

Lots of fun, humor, weirdness, at least at first, then, oh oh, not so much fun, then, holy shit, scary. Wondering what's going on, what's going to happen, never quite sure till the very end. Twists and truths and more twists and more truths.

Finished it in two days. Couldn't put it down. Great main character. Lots of heart, lots of pain, lots of confusion, trying to figure things out. And nice writing style, good, easy flow. Thank you so much for that. And, yes, interesting from the ver Great story. And, yes, interesting from the very first page. Thank you so much for that also. So rare. Jan 26, Natasha rated it did not like it Shelves: incomplete. This one started off not to my liking when Theo declared that she looks like a serial killer because of a 4" long scar on her cheek.

I found that very insulting to people with scars, and it was stupid. Most serial killers don't look any certain way. The format of the book was unique, but I couldn't connect with it. I got tired of Theo talking to herself. Jul 13, Amy rated it really liked it. Intense read. Not a predictable story at all. I was unsure as to where the story was heading until the last 20 pages. Dec 23, Taylormade rated it it was amazing. This book floored me.

It has great twists AND explains everything.

There's some sexual harassment in it, so trigger warning for that. Nov 05, Gabriella rated it it was ok. When she begins to see this boy in the cafe regularly, she becomes curious about his story. She makes it her mission to help him find this girl, who he says is named "Sarah", and in doing so, discovers events of her past she did not know about, and she learns more who she is in the entire process. The Girl with the Wrong Name kept me hooked until the very end. It had many twists and turns along the way that I did not see coming, and it did keep me wondering what would happen next until bitter-sweet ending ending.

Theo was an unreliable narrator who was too emotional and going through too much to understand what was going on around her which made the story hard to follow, but helped make the story more surprising at the end.

Barnabas Miller

I drop my purse and shoes on the floor and take a few aimless steps around the room, still trying to find my center, still trying to get the world to stand still for just one second. I step to my bed, but sway back toward the couch. I step to the closet, but sway sideways steps towards my bathroom.

The author must have put a lot of thought into this book to be able to construct such a complicated plot to keep readers guessing all the way through. The complexity of the way the different story lines eventually all fit together is mind-blowing. Additionally, the way, the way the make-believe Andy led her to her old home in which she was given videotapes of her past to find out what actually happened to her sister that she did not remember existed further made the plot more dramatic.

In conclusion, I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, emotional drama, and unimaginable plot twists. I personally felt the plot was intriguing and well-thought out, but I did not like this book because of the over-the-top drama that is not something I personally enjoy and did not expect when I picked up this book. However, if you like books that are very psychologically complex, I definitely recommend this book for you. Sep 21, Medeia Sharif rated it really liked it. After she bumps into him and finally strik Theo has a scar on her face that she covers with her hair, concealer, and hoodies. Even though Theo is attracted to him, she helps him look for Sarah. Then the story gets stranger, because things start unraveling. This is an eerie psychological thriller that will have you turning the pages. There are also aspects of the novel that seemed more adult than YA.

Well she does help him, but when she does she never expect what she going to find out. So yes, this book is not what it looks like at first. What is that? I can't believe that!!! Obliviously I'm being super vague here, but I think this is the better way to let you discover al the craziness by yourself. The only thing I would say is that it has a happy ending. I don't know how that happened with all the craziness, but it did and I think that is why I love this book so much. Because despise everithing she went through she found her happy ending. Theo Lane loves documentaries.

Her new obsession is the boy that visits her favorite cafe every day on the same time. Together they start looking for Sarah. The more they learn, the deeper they get into trouble.
